UDM Pro vs UDM SE: What Actually Changes?
The Dream Machine Pro and Dream Machine Special Edition run the same UniFi application family and target similar rack-mounted deployments. The biggest practical differences are the SE’s integrated PoE switching, 2.5 GbE RJ45 WAN and onboard SSD.

Choose the UDM Pro When
You already plan to use dedicated PoE switches, your WAN handoff does not require the SE’s 2.5 GbE copper port, and you want a straightforward rack gateway/controller.
Choose the UDM SE When
You want integrated PoE for a smaller deployment, need the 2.5 GbE RJ45 WAN interface, or value the built-in SSD and the ability to power several network devices without immediately adding a separate PoE switch.
For Larger Deployments
Do not assume either model is automatically the right choice for large camera or high-client environments. Ubiquiti positions the Dream Machine Pro Max above the Pro/SE for additional device/client capacity and higher IDS/IPS performance.
