Start With the Required PoE Standard
A powered device may fail to start even when plugged into a PoE switch if the port does not support the required PoE mode, the switch is out of power budget, or the cable path is faulty.
Check These Items
- Confirm the exact device’s required PoE standard.
- Confirm the switch port can provide that standard.
- Check total switch PoE budget and current consumption.
- Inspect switch logs for overload or power-cycle events.
- Test with a known-good short patch cable where practical.
- Inspect terminations and patch panels in the cable path.
