PoE Budget Calculator

Use this calculator as a planning estimate for access points, cameras and other powered devices. Check each device’s required PoE standard, the switch’s per-port capabilities and its total available power budget against the relevant equipment specifications.

Estimate Your PoE Power Budget

Enter the number of powered devices. The calculator uses conservative planning wattages and adds 25% headroom.

Recommended planning budget
240 W+

Estimated connected load: 180 W

Always verify the actual maximum power draw and PoE standard required by each exact device model before purchasing a switch.

Why Leave Headroom?

A switch operating at the edge of its PoE capacity leaves little room for device startup peaks, future additions or model changes. A planning reserve also makes expansion easier.

PoE Wattage Is Only One Requirement

Also confirm the required PoE standard per port, switch uplink capacity, port count and whether high-power devices need PoE+ or PoE++. For a complete deployment, see UniFi network installation.

Turn your PoE estimate into an installation plan

A total wattage does not confirm that every device will work on every port. We can review the proposed equipment, cabling and switching as part of an installation project in Virginia or North Carolina.

Request an Installation Estimate

Include these details in your request

  • Project city/state and property type.
  • The estimated connected load and planning budget shown above.
  • Exact device models and quantities, including planned additions.
  • Existing or proposed switch model and any known cable constraints.

Paste the calculator figures into the project description. The estimate is not automatically sent with your request. Please keep passwords and private keys out of the form.

Check the rest of the network

Confirm per-port power requirements, available ports, uplinks and the physical cable path. Explore commercial network installation, hotel network projects or structured cabling.

Already have a UniFi system with a power or connectivity problem? Remote support may help review configuration; physical power and cable faults need someone at the equipment. Request remote troubleshooting.
