UniFi Setup

UniFi PoE Device Not Powering On

Start With the Required PoE Standard

A powered device may fail to start even when plugged into a PoE switch if the port does not support the required PoE mode, the switch is out of power budget, or the cable path is faulty.

Check These Items

  • Confirm the exact device’s required PoE standard.
  • Confirm the switch port can provide that standard.
  • Check total switch PoE budget and current consumption.
  • Inspect switch logs for overload or power-cycle events.
  • Test with a known-good short patch cable where practical.
  • Inspect terminations and patch panels in the cable path.

Use the PoE Budget Calculator for preliminary planning.
