A VLAN Must Work End to End
Creating a VLAN/network in the controller is only one part of the path. The gateway, switch ports, wireless network, DHCP service and firewall policy all need to agree about how traffic should be tagged and routed.
Check These Areas
- Confirm the VLAN/network exists with the intended subnet and VLAN ID.
- Verify DHCP is available if clients are expected to receive addresses automatically.
- Check the AP or switch uplink carries the VLAN.
- Check the client-facing port or SSID is assigned to the correct network.
- Confirm firewall rules are not blocking required traffic.
- Check for duplicate subnets or VLAN IDs across connected sites.
Use Client IP Information
If a client connects but receives an address from the wrong subnet, focus on assignment/tagging. If it receives no address, focus on VLAN transport and DHCP. If it gets the correct address but cannot reach the destination, focus on routing, DNS and firewall policy.
